how can such a little thing like a gall bladder hurt so much, seriously when i finally broke down and went to the er i cried and screamed with every bump, even the morphine shot in the er didn't help all that much....well it came out friday night and i finally got to come home today...have help with the birds for the week but I lost an incubator full of eggs in the process,(my daughter tried to help when the electric went out by wrapping a towel around, only she forgot to take it off)..i think I would rather have labor pains than to go thru that again.

Make sure you look up special diets for after gall bladder surgery. The surgery does not fix everything and you still have to change your eating style. My brother, MIL and an inlaw all had theirsremoved. My Mil's doctor told her about the diet and the importance of enzymes and she has had no problems since. My brothers doctor had him believe the surgery meant he could eat whatever again. He can barely eat he is so messed up. He has been in terrible pain and gone back several times. I mentioned diet to him and he is finally working on cleaning up how he eats and getting those enzymes. The inlaw mentioned all the problems she was having right after her surgery and I keyed her into diet changes and the enzymes. I saw her 7 months later and she said she has not had issues again since changing her diet. Its free info on line and enzymes are cheap.

I had a gall bladder attack also. Actually a few of them. Worst pain of my life. I don't do surgery unless.....well unless I am having a baby so I kept mine. I fought a doctor over it even. I went ahead and changed my diet and started taking enzymes. I have not had another attack in over 4 years. Its all in the diet. Removing it just removes a gall bladder which has stones blocking it. The stones still form and there are still ducts that can be blocked. Diet is everything.

I am sorry about your gall bladder experience. I had mine taken out when I was 4 months pregnant with my
second child. It is a painful surgery but when you get on the other side you will feel much better.

I do have to warn you. You will want to watch the fat in your diet now that your gall bladder is gone.
You GB aided in breaking fat down during digestion. Now that it is no longer there your body may warn you
if you eat too much fat in two major ways. 1. you will get a really bad stomach ache simular to what you
experienced before you had your GB out. or 2. you may get the runs. Since you GB is not there the fats
can run straight threw you. Just wanted to warn you. Or you could get lucky and have none of those
problems. I know some people that can eat anything they want now that their GB is gone.
Just depends on your body.

Hope you feel better soon.

I have heard about the diet restrictions afterwards, kind of why i put it off for so long, started having problems a few years ago but was always given the option to keep it, this time they were afraid it was gonna burst (didn't know that could happen) ....I should not complain to much, i have alot of family that is willing to pitch in and help, good thing because it was alot for me to just carry a 2 gallon water container out tonight...i always thought that i could tolerate pain very well but this is proving me wrong....only been home for one night and hubby is yelling at me all ready to stop pushing things and let others take care of them.....thanks for the personal experience it is nice to know what to expect for the recovery.

You have a good hubby to remind you to not do too much. I am so much like you, I hate to have people
wait on me. I am a go getter and only ask for help after I have failed at something many times and get frustrated.

Recovery is always hard for me because I think I can do more that what I should. Seeing that I had my GB out
when I was 4 months pregnant with my second child it slowed me down a lot. But you should be very careful.
You do not want to bust any of your stitches or glue that was use to close the surgical site.

The new diet is not so bad. I thought I would have to eat rabbit food but after trial and error I learned what my
body can handle and what it gives me grief about. I know where the line is now and I do not cross it.

Greasy stuff will make me sick as all get out. So I ovoid fried and greasy foods for the most part.

Best of luck with your recovery. In the end you will be so glad that you got you GB out.

learned the hard way that it is necesary to take it easy, with being on pain killers i thought nothing of trying to get stuff done yesterday, well about 10 last night i ended up collapsing on the floor, my daughter is now staying here for awhile to make sure I listen....It is very hard for me to sit and watch others doing the work that I should be doing....also learned that toast plain is good, think i will skip the butter for awhile....need to get better, I miss tending to the birds.

I'm so sorry you've had to go through such pain. Several in my family have had to have their gb's removed after many bouts of troubles before it was diagnosed. Please take good care.
