I wanted to warn you before I forget. A friend called and asked me to come look at her chicken, it's feet were blistered and scabby and looked like it's toes might fall off. I brought my emergency kit and went to take a look. After close examination it looked like 3rd degree burns ! Bing, the light bub went off............ they were burning in the burn barrel after dumping out most of it's contents, so it was very deep inside. The chicken had jumped in to lay an egg in all the good stuff of the formerly full barrel, only to realize it was a hot deep oven.... She burned her feet badly. Well we washed and removed the dead skin from her feet and rinsed with a iodine/wash and then coated her feet with Lanoseptic. She is now called Krispy, and still lays an egg, walks and has a good attitude despite losing a lot of toes. So please........ keep an eye on your burn barrels and put a lid on them when not using.....
