Well for the past couple of days it's been raining here but we managed to make a bit of progress running between the rain drops.

BTW: How do you all secure a hinged compartment against predators without using a padlock? (this is not a quiz)

Very nice! Are the windows going to open? I love the french door. I used an existing shed that the door opening was too short to use a real door so I had to make my own, I wanted a french door so bad. My chickens were soooooo disappointed. Maybe they can come by your coop for a sleep over this summer!

Actually the cutouts that you see on each side of the coop will work like this:

The upper opening on each side will open be screened and allow cross ventilation.

The lower opening on each side that opens from the top will have a chain so that it will act as a shelf once opened. It will open to the back of the nesting boxes.

I want to make each nesting box a separate entity, and be easily removed so that the whole coop can be disinfected more easily.

And yes your ladies are more than welcome to have a sleep over once our Chicken Chalet has been established.
