Just another EE, what sex am I?

Saddle feathers are on the "hips" You might have to move some of the feathers around the tail to find them at 9 weeks. EEs are my favorite roosters because of the amazing colors. Once fully mature, you won't recognize the roo you have now. Move the wings out, look right on both sides of the tail. You should see some narrow, pointy feathers. Those are saddle feathers.

I agree with you, you have a roo there on the left of the first pic. He will be gorgeous when grown, just wait. The one on the right is a pullet. We have twin EEs.

I agree with this. The tails on EE's don't really tell a thing. I have some that go every which direction and all lay eggs. For EE's I wait till they crow before I'm sure it's a roo.

Thank you for the saddle feather explaination. My EE does have small feathers that started coming in on the sides of the tail that are a shiny green blue along with longer feathers that are a pretty brown and white pattern which is surprizing considering the rest of the body turned from looking like a chipmunk to black, white and grey.

What do you think of the pic taken last week at age 8 wks?

The black & white chick (above) is a nice looking cockerel. His comb is quite large & red for only being 8 weeks and the shiny feathers coming in are also roo features.

I had an EE that was larger than the others, pinker and wider comb, and more roo colored than the other 2. My suspect EE turned out to be a pullet, but her comb was nowhere near the size and color of your EE. This is her at 7-8 weeks of age:

This is her comb when she started laying (22 weeks), but as you can see from the above picture, the females are later at developing.

Of course I can never get good shot of the birds, but the reason I asked about that one being a rooster is because the first two EEs I had(now a yr old) had/have very pointy tail feathers, but NOTHING like the younger one I have now. The tail sticks up a lot farther than what the pictures show. Everytime I try to get close to take a good picture he runs off and the photo is all blurred.

I also have a golden cuckoo marans roo(same age as others) and I heard 'someone' try and crow today. Of course the stupid bird had to do it where I wasnt in sight of them, but I could still hear it. That aweful screeching crow that they start out with. When I came around the corner everyone shut up! I sat there a while to see which one did it, but nothing. I tried doing the same thing I heard hoping it might make him come running and crowing or something, but no one did. So I guess I will have to sit and wait in the coop to see which suspect did it.
