Just another newb

Just another chicken newb joining. We have a tiny open field 5 acre bit of earth in southwest Michigan with two daughters (7 and 9) who adore the neighbors chickens and have begged for their own for 3 years now. We asked them to get little jobs with local trusted family and friends and they have finally saved up enough to purchase 15-20 chicks and a sundry equipment. Wifey and I have repurposed a 12x17 shed on a concrete pad into their coop. Still working on getting it ready. Chicks arrive in a week or two. Brooder is set up and ready with bedding, waterer, feeder, and heat plate. Here’s to hoping chickens become our new norm.
