Hi, I've just found you via google, and it's great to be with other chicken lovers. The chicken love thing came as a complete surprise to me since my grandmother's chickens terrified me as a kid. We live in the country though, in Ontario Canada, and it seemed to be the time to try some sort of livestock. Chickens sounded easy, and then i tried to find chickens. It was quite a search, since I wanted Buff Orpingtons. I now have 3 hens whom I absolutely adore and I am awaiting the arrival of chicks in May.
I am also looking for 3 more year old laying hens so that we can up the eggs sooner, but they are hard to find. If anyone knows of Speckled Sussex or Partridge Rocks within driving distance of Toronto I would be thrilled. Otherwise there are buy/swap shows starting in the spring that I will try for.
If anyone is interested in different breeders or shows, the "Feather Fancier" comes out monthly and has ads for most breeds. You can find them on the internet.
I can't wait to explore the site, so off I go.
