(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
yes very new to chickens. We first got our chicks about 6 mos ago.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? What breeds do you have?
We started with 6 “pullets” from tsc. Shortly after we got 5 more from a breeder. We ended up with 2 production reds, one silky pearl and 3 isa browns from tsc. The other 5 were two silkies, two bantam blrw wyandots and a bantam blue Cochin
We have lost 3 of the tsc chickens to the heat so currently we are at 8 chickens.
I put pullets in quotes earlier because one of the production reds turned out to be a roo. Also one of our silkies is a roo.
(3)What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Having the eggs is nice but I think just watching them grow ( aside from losing a few) has been pretty rewarding
(4) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Found the site looking for reasons that our chickens were sick and finally decided that it would be good to join so I could ask questions instead of just looking at previous posts
