I spent the weekend doing touristy stuff in Oregon and today on the last leg of our trip we spent the day in Salem at the state fair. My DH (I lived in England for 12 years, he is English, and just moved back 18mo ago) has never been to a county or state fair. Anyways we did the usually round of rides and craft stall and then I dragged him over to see the livestock. I wanted to show my DD, DS, and DH all the prize winning chickens. At first he was a little resistant, since chickens are more my thing, but after the 3rd Wyandotte chicken we came to the cockerel and he got reeeeaaaaal interested in the rest of the breeds and what they looked like, how big, how nice, can you have pet cockerels....
I am about as proud as any momma hen watching her babies take their first steps!! On the drive home we had quite the discussion on what other chickens we will get to keep Speckles company, how to build a coop, and then where we can live so he could have a cockerel (we live inside city limits so we are not allowed one right now). I have always liked chickens and it is nice to be able to share this with my DH. I may even get him to come with me to the BYC OR chat & swap!!

Congrats! There is nothing like having your spouse share your chicken addiction. DH was always helpful (with building coops, etc) and tolerant of my chcken thing. But then we gotquail this Spring. He loves the quail and that got him more interested in the chickens. He has all kinds of plans for more coops and quail pens now.

My DH also ended up not resisting them once they came home-when hes working around the coop I hear him talking to the girls and digging up worms for them-right now he's building another coop!!!!!!
