Ok so today is day 21 for one out of 14 shipped eggs... I hadn’t seen movement so I candled yesterday. Internal pip was there. Air cell isn’t quite at the top of egg sort of on one side. No chirping that I have noticed. Egg is wiggling every once in a while.

I am just wondering at what point (no plans to do this anytime soon, but don’t want to loose this chick). Do I help or at lead make a saftey hole.. I know I still have time but how long does it normally take to externally pip after internally. It has been over 24 hours now...

Worried is all..

Did the other 13 not develop...or?
They don't always chirp, just be patient.
They didn’t develop... I am being impatient I know... I didn’t set them til around 7pmish.. I think becaus I am home and don’t have much to keep me occupied it’s driving me nuts nothing but some wiggling is happening.. lol. Why does it have to be so exciting that we just can’t wait... ok now I sound like a little kid wanting a new toy.. lol. Thanks for the reassurance

Hmm...I mean...hypothetically I don’t think there is any harm putting a safety hole very carefully, if it has internally pipped for over 24 hours. If it would ease your mind. But I’ve personally had 2 semi-traumatizing assists in a row so I’m more inclined to wait until after day 21 to help currently.
Do you know if there is a risk of that internal membrane starting to get too dry if you do a safety hole? I recently had a chick pipped for about 36 hours and I went to help it zip after that because it had gotten shrink wrapped from being pipped for so long, even though the humidity was high. So I suppose there are risks to helping and risks to waiting. I’d do whatever you feel best about. It’s always hard when it’s just one egg since you don’t have others as a reference point.

If you’re worried, doing a safety hole can reassure you as well as the chick if it’s struggling. Some people make safety holes in all their eggs on day 21 regardless if there had been a pip. If you chose to make a safety hole don’t mess with the egg any longer up until it makes a pip of its own.

Yes I bought some a few days ago.. I am paranoid because this one was shipped. First time making it this far with shipped...
That's good. Yeah, shipped eggs are hard. It's hard to know what you're dealing with since we aren't there, I just go with what you feel is best. I'm rooting for your little one. What other kinds of chicks did you get?
