Yes i agree with Flufnstuffs~FluffySilkies, 1x2 but coated, its a bit easyer to clean if you need to, also a bit easyer on the feet. Anything new i build that the birds are on wire i will use the coated for the bottom part, Cost a bit more but anything to make the birds a bit more cozy is the way to go.

I dont use wire on the bottom as the little house part closes tightly, i also have wheels on it which makes it alot easyer to move, Plus a small plexi window in it with a latch for extra air flow in the summer, the pen part has a door up on the end so i can get inside there also..
tarp on top of run area to keep some shade in there.

I call it a delux breeder X tractor pen or BXT for short.

I got the coop to a stage where I can use it. I didn't get to change the wire on the bottom, but I may just take it off when I enclose the back part completely. I moved the bantam lavenders in it instead thinking maybe their poop will go through the wire. So far it has.
