I had a chick that struggled this Fall too. It wasn't getting around like the other chicks but was eating and drinking without too much trouble. It ended up dying under its mother hen. Sometimes they aren't meant to survive.

Our little "runt" chicken died also at about 3 weeks old and still the size of a 1 week old chick. There must be a name for this sort of thing, where they never grow like the others. I watched her take her last breath and it was heartbreaking.

I assume they must have something wrong with their pituitary gland in the brain (if they have one) and it causes them not to produce growth hormone?
