The medium is only 1 inch longer than the small - I don't think it would be a problem. I am looking at this for my bichon, it reminds me of the wieghted vests they use for special needs kids to bring them down to earth

She needs something like this and so does her fence jumping son. It might give him enough weight he wouldn't make it over the fence. HMMMMMM.....
