About 8 yrs ago, we had an "invasion" of illegals come through and they jumped all over the jobs that most teens take. Like fast food etc...

Then you put more people out of work...... if done right unemployed people, like my husband, go into school for additional training for new opportunities, if they had to work they would not be able to do that. And did I mention then they would be putting other people out of work??

Not if you put people where they are needed. The school district I had in mind still has wiring and plumbing from the 1930s with no money to spend on upgrades for stuff like that. Their textbooks are all 20 years old ... OK, I'm rambling, but there is a lot of "volunteer work" that could be changed into "get paid with gov't funds work."

If you look back at the New Deal in the 1930s, that is what happened, CCC, Tennessee Valley Authority ... the government basically put people to work. Welfare was also originally intended to be paid back.

I was talking to a workmate who is back from a few months work for the company in India. He was telling me about what is happening over there to create jobs. He also mantioned that when the company bought a top of the range Coffe maker...it came with a second..........A man employed just to stand by the machine to make peoples coffee for them. So this man doesnt get paid much- and it would be a boring job- but at least he can now afford to feed his family again.

Japan has some "odd jobs" too, like greeters to greet cars as they pull into drive-thrus and people to shove you onto the subway. Japan usually has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the world. Many Japanese companies only lay people off as a last resort, they usually with cut benefits and perks before they'll lay someone off, a common belief that unemployed people are bad for society.
