Just curious who else is living super frugal

Deb, I understand your issues about the scorpions and spiders--- read Louis L'Amour books long ago. I like the idea for a boot and shoe organizer!!

Yup... we have scorpions that can fit through the thickness of a piece of paper....

This is kind of what I was visualizing for a boot/shoe rack I would build it longer and wider for more stability though... and thicker... the base that is.

Here are the scorpions we have They will lay flat and you find them under your pillows... or in folded towels Three adults and three babies.

Just a sting like a gnarly ant bite... But you dont want one on your foot for sure.

Yes @hennible , I am cross posting

So about being frugal....I bought some mistinted paint and transformed my laundry room that was stuck in the 1980s to a nice updated look.
The paint was nearly $40 a gallon. I paid $5 per gallon each x2.

ohh nice find.. yanno the more I look at that color the more I think some black accenting would be soo wicked kewl...might make dh think of it less dark then maybe make it feel it brighter with the contrast..haha but dont mind me I am all about black letter stenciled nifty quotes atm.. our local dollar store has these neat quotes that decall off onto walls......lots loving feel good things and nice reminders......

ugh ugh seriously make my toes curl ugh....especially as well i darn near run around barefoot as much as possible

@Amberjem

I run around barefoot all the time... even up at the house in the desert. very few stickers... Of course you never put any digit someplace you cant see before hand. Shoes gloves get whacked even if they have been inside in the closet.

Outside it goes without saying. I use a walking stick to flip over wood before picking it up... Or whack the wood hard to see if it sirs up a rattle snake. During the spring is when the babies are out... they don't have a rattle and they don't have the control over their venom delivery so they deliver it all. Most dangerous of em all.

Mornings and evenings are the worst times for snakes.... Thats when they hunt. During the hot part of the day they just lay low.... Under wood or shrubs or near water...

Scorpions like I said they are just like a big ant bite... unless you are allergic. We don't have the really poisonous ones here.

Nice trade erinszo!! WIn-win for sure.

As I was feeding the crew this morning, I realized that I can still collect fallen leaves for bedding. The snows have been scarce this year so far, only a coating or inch due tonight. Hoping to get the kids to help me rake up a few bags this afternoon from the woods. TO put in a few of the coops to freshen them up a bit.

WE bought two bookcases from salvation army and still need to make time to get them in place. THey are cluttering up my entry. lol

Kids shoes have grown bigger and don't fit on the book shelves any more. Been brainstorming a new solution, closer to the front door, to keep the mud and dirt closer to the door. lol

We used old plant trays from a garden center and the kids had to deposit their shoes in the trays before they left the entryway. With four of them plus friends, we just made it a rule. "No shoes on the carpets." When the plant trays started breaking, we got rid of them and found some new ones. If they got too much dirt in them, we washed them out with the hose. Nothing fancy but it sure kept the house a lot cleaner.

Deb, I'm so glad that I'm in the disgustingly cold, so cold that it freezes the hairs inside your nose so they stick together, north. I don't have anything like that in my shoes!

I'm with you ... I'd rather shovel the snow than step on a scorpion. We had them where I grew up. They would be in piles of leaves and would crawl up our pant legs when we were outside playing. They hurt worse than any bee sting I've ever had.
