Just curious who else is living super frugal

My cat had the 3 year rabies vaccine last summer.

My vet used to, but doesn't any more. There was something wrong with the 3 yr in cats not being effective, so they stopped offering it. That was almost a year ago, so I'll check to see if they've added it back.

Yes yellow. It apparently kills the adults--- do some research and see what you think. I only use this in my house, where I dont want bugs and dont use DE as it kills the good and the bad.

Currently storing up wood ashes to use inthe coops for the hens to have a bath.

I  find it hard to find natural flea and bug controls as use of them to reduce problem bugs can be harmful to the good ones too. I think  treatment is a matter of timing, and prevention.Are some hens more bothered by mites etc--. As Bee was saying, perhaps they should have a greater priority when selecting breeding stock.

I had one dog that also went thru treatment.  Very expensive.


As I said, observing  many rottie males, UN NEUTERED males, sitting ringside waiting their turn was an eyeopener. These nasty ferocious dogs were sitting, and minding their own business for the most part.  Show dogs cannot be neutered. Once they fixed, they cannot be shown at these kinds of shows ( though I think a couple classes are an exception.)

Seems like the yellow would stain everything?

It's a very pale yellow...doesn't appear to stain, though. I use it on white chooks and you'd never know it after a couple of days.

Super cheap, super yummy smelling potpourri mix: dried orange skins, broken up into small pieces, cinnamon and cloves. boil in a potpourri pot or a small pot on top of the stove.

LOL I was lost for amoment with all the talk of worming vaccinations and sulfur. lol

In the past I have kept orange peels and stuck them with whole cloves and tossed in boys clothes drawers. Makes clothes smell nice.

Cleaned out frig today and tossed to chooks. Makes me feel frugal!!! Used as food before it spoiled and went into compost. lol Which I cant find anyway under 3 feet of snow.

Since we can't seem to bring in any more money than we already do, we've been trying to slow the output of money. I convinced SO to cancel his AmazonPrime - well, he's locked in until November but then he will cancel. We went to a bare-bones cell plan. I'm trying to convince him to give up cable - we have the basic local channels only but I'm concerned an antenna will not work. Internet is the basic, but I have to keep that due to my job. I also plan to cancel our trash service. We recycle everything anyway. I've made a bet with him to see how long he can go without spending any money. He's been bringing his lunch to work, not buying coffee out..it's been going well. I've also been using everything up in the pantry and shopping only for fresh veggies when we need them.

Exactly what I tell my kids and other people when they complain about finances, about how their wages don't cover their bills, etc. I tell them if the wage doesn't change, then the bills have to and what you think you need and what you really need are two very separate things in this world today. It's all about priorities. Whenever they start a sentence with, "I can't live without my (insert item or service here)....", I just stop them right there and say, instead, "You mean you WON'T live without it....that's vastly different than 'you can't'. If you refuse to adapt, then there's no point in whining about the economy, your wages, your bills, etc."

A person would be surprised what they can do without and never feel the least bit deprived over it once you adjust....actually, not only do you not feel deprived, but you have much more free time, more freedom all the way around, and you grow to LOVE that freedom more than you've ever loved the cell phone, TV, cable, Netflix, a new car(with the huge payments, I might add), eating out continually, etc.

In Wyoming, we got more channels than this showed, but that was a unique situation. We think the signals skipped along the front range of the Rocky Mountains or something because we were getting some channels from way far away.
