Just curious who else is living super frugal

By now, we only have the farm debt, and we will be able to pay this off in 8 years and 3 months. Yes, we will likely need a new van/SUV/truck/car in there. I am a SAHM now, as daycare for 2 infants is over what I'd make.

Poking this thread so I don't get 100 million e-mails and I can find it.

Thank you all.

BTW How does one garden with no sun? I have land enough, I'll find time but everything to grow needs sun...?

I wish I could find a way to convey that to my kids. They are literally begging me to go to work full time and put them in public school and the littles in day care so they can have more stuff. They are tired of not being a normal family. Their friends get 400 to 500 each for Christmas. My little $50 is fine until they see what their friends get. That is the most frustrating part to me. Even if I could ever afford that I would not give them that much. I just wish that now that they are a bit older and its been this way forever that they attempted to understand the truly important stuff I am giving them. Not going to happen while they are young I know. That just one of those fantasy wishes.

With the job loss imminent I am still searching for more ways to cut expenses. We are going to do the work on my parents farm and raise a few beef cows. My parents are going to help us with the monetary parts a bit but we are going to do the fencing and care of the animals and we will all get healthy affordable beef. We are rushing now so we can be ready in the spring. Considering raising up 5 in the spring. 2 for our family and 3 to sell to cover expenses and bring in a tiny bit extra. I have been applying for jobs like made. Even with the degree is not going well. Actually really considering Mcdonalds super early morning shift. I have no need of any child care at that time so that would make working actually profitable. I am going to start working on my education so I can do taxes at a bit of a higher level than I do now. Going to study for my enrolled agent. The hubby is going to work on his education too.

With the four kids clothes is a biggie. I am hitting hospice on Thursday. I love hospice bag sales. love love love them. As many articles of clothing as you can fit in a bag for 6 bucks. I use my scout skills with packing and those bags go far. Thankfully, even when we were feeling a bit more secure, I was preparing for just such an event. Little bit scared. It super frugal going to pull us through this. I always had a job till we had our second. My husband has worked non stop for the last 20 years. Me looking at full time work and him prepping to be at home till he finds something is a very scary change.

Heatherlynn, hang in there. Kids grow up. If you put the right things in them then one day they will show up. One day they will look back on their life style while growing up and remember them as some of the some of the best days of their lives. The thing that kids need more than anything is for someone to love them. Having a happy home for them to live in is worth more than all the gold in this old world. My kids are all grown up now but they look on their childhood days in the country as some of their best days. When they come home for an occasional visit all they want is a home cooked meal of the things that they grew up eating. They like to sit around an reminese talking about the simple things we did while they were growing up. My daughter says that she hates to leave and go back to the rat race. She said that "everything seems better" when she comes home and they talk about what a peace that there is here at home. We are simple people and we have a simple house and God's beautiful mountains to look at. Most people would look down their noses at how we live and what we like to eat but to me it is a little piece of heaven on earth. I could hardly get my work done today for neighbors dropping in to see me to say hello. I have one neighbor who can't even read his mail but he will bring it to me to read for him. He is a proud, hard working, independent gentleman that I respect more than some super rich who were raised with a "silver spoon" in their mouths. What I am trying to say here is that we have been hoodwinked by the "American Dream". People are burning themselves out, head over heels in debt, never see the kids that God gave them because they have sold their souls to get the "American Dream". If you folks can hang in there and trust God for the outcome I know you will make it just fine. He can create the means that your family needs to provide for you during this difficult time. God bless you and your family.
