On my profile page there's a number 140 under the box where it says "update your status". At first I thought it had to do with the number of messages posted on the page, but the 140 never seems to change.

Curious about what it means, anyone know?

I think that it shows how many characters you have left. For example when you start to type in the box the number goes down.
