This little one hatched last night, hopefully by tomorrow I'll be able to add pictures of a sibling or two! Mom is a black silkie with lots of gold leakage on her neck (not the little broodie in the pic) and dad is a white silkie, no idea what their background breeding is. The little dark spots confuse me, does that mean its a possible paint/splash? Or is it still entirely possible the end result will be white?

It is more of a pale double stripe with a spot on her neck, but its so hard to say what's a stripe and whats a spot when the canvas in question is super fluffy and soft! I can't wait to see the second who's pipped internally! Im pretty excited to see what mystery genes might pop up.. or to just have a few more white or black fuzzies waddling about the yard! :love

Oh! Thats so awesome! Be sure to show some pics after they hatch for you! I just happened to get lucky and have a girl go broody, so I put a couple eggs under her... and then a second went broody, so I figured what the heck and split the eggs.... (I'm new at this broody thing, so I had no clue broodies might fight over chicks!) And then on day 18 one of the ladies got herself turned around and hopped into the nest with the other broody, and left her eggs uncovered for a good 7-8hrs. I think one didn't make it, but the second started moving again after they were warmed up again, so I tucked them under the broody who didn't flake out with the other two good eggs. The one that chilled almost looks like it just paused in developing, so its a wait with crossed fingers, the other chilled one I'm hoping might surprise me in the end, but I've learned a few lessons this time around, so I'm still counting it a win 😅

I hatched silkie chicks back in September, I got 1/6, she is very cute. And I’m glad I got her, it allowed me to hatch polish chicks later on. Here is her after she hatched....

Weird, but I though this was cute.

There's nothing weird about it! That picture says soo much! I can tell she's both sweet, and sunny and absolutely gorgeous all at the same time! Her Mama is pretty sweet too! I'd love a buff! Porcelain is my favorite, but I desperately want a little buff silkie I can name Ginger!

I hope you hatch a buff. She is the sweetest little mother ever. Even if she did only get to be a single mother for 2 weeks before my other silkie took over/helped out. Her name is Sunny, what a coincidence

Broodiness is definitely contagious! I have 3 that are broody now. They are all young layers. My eggs are in the incubator. Hopefully the silkie girls will be able to hatch some next time around. Congratulations on the one you got and hope that more hatch!😊
