Our Buff Orpingtons are 4 weeks old.
We handle them daily, multiple times. We now, successfully, have sweet girls who come out when called, want to sit and be talked to and held, one even wants to lay down and full on cuddle! This began as “Let’s be smart, invest in chickens for our own eggs,” however it is quickly becoming “But also they’re endearing and we love them to the moon!” These 5 girls are hands-down one of the best leaps we’ve taken and have added so much education to our homeschooling and love/joy to our days!
So the short of this post truly is, if you’re on the fence, take the leap! I can not imagine having not experienced this (wish it hadn’t taken decades to have it) and not giving my kiddos this gift of life knowledge/respect for animals/friendship of chickens!
