I went outside to find NOTHING but feathers left of a 15 week old Auracana. We have two dogs that in one very small area could grab a chicken, but I would think with dogs there would be blood and guts, not just feathers. I did check their stool the next day and although white in color, certainly no bones, beaks or feet.

Could a good fight with a hawk or eagle (we have bald eagles) release just feathers (lots - you would have thought whatever got the poor little thing, plucked it first).

We had one pullet die of fright when our lab/greyhound caught her, but the dog had no interest once she died. the other dog is a border collie who thinks her job is keeping the birds in a certain area. She does give chase occassionally but never grabs them although she is capable. So I'm having a hard time thinking such a clean kill would be one of our dogs. Any suggestions?

Keepin em safe!

bird of prey, fox, or coyote all carry them off,and just leave feathers behind.
