I go into lockdown on may 1st, does that count for the group? hahah.
This is my second go round ever with the incubator, and the last for the season. I have 5 broody's as well right now, so it's just too too much. They all go broody AFTER i filled the bator, go figure !!!
I have 42 eggs in it, 2 are from my bantam cochin, my EE roo Marbles has been mating her, so I'm super curious to see what they will look like, I will most likely let my daughter keep those two (if they hatch that is) !!

I also have 4 eggs from my favorite blue hen in there, she always throws me blue babies, of which I will keep the girls and keep a roo. And my youngest roo Matti will be rehomed. We don't like each other. sad, as I saved his life as a chick. what is up with that, hahah.

I haven't candled these ones and not planning too. was too successful with my first go round to make changes to this one.

good luck to all, spring has sprung. !!

) . I plan to arrange the eggs so the air cell is toward the camera so we can see the first pip!

Okay, I'm new to incubating, so could someone please explain the "lockdown" thingie?

From my research I see that you should refrain from turning the eggs during the final 3 days of incubating. Is this correct? And is that what everyone is referring to? My hatch day is May 2nd, but we've had 2 power outages in the last couple days, both about 3 hours long. The second one was during the day with plenty of sunshine. I put the incubator in a plastic bin, placed it in the yard and was able to keep the temp at 99.5, had a more difficult time during the nighttime outage. The temp dropped into the 70's. Hope I still have some viable ones!

You are right. Lockdown means you stop turning the eggs, and raise the humidity higher than the previous 18 days. Most people recommend NOT opening the incubator for te last 3 days ( Hence the "Lockdown")
Hopefully, you will get some chicks! Good luck!
