Mine were about 7 weeks when I put them in the coop. The first few nights I put them up on the roost and most jumped right off lol. After a few nights a few went up by themselves and within a week they all went up there. I did have light in there at first but only because I had a couple 3 week chicks in the brooder that I put in there that still needed the heat lamp. I had the nesting boxes closed off until they were 16 weeks, then opened them and put in some golf balls as fake eggs. They investigated but never slept or pooped in them and so far the 3 that are laying have used the nesting boxes right off the bat.
