Just for fun-How was hatching and raising done back in the day?

Before electricity and pellets and commercial products of all sorts, how do you think people raised chickens? From egg to hen/cock.if you don't know tell how you imagine they did it.

They used hens. Granny used corn meal when the chicks were first hatched but they were soon out on free range with mama so she did all the feeding of them then. The whole flock got nothing but free range and shelled corn.
