This auction is for 5-7 eggs out of an Isa Brown hen (production red) and a Jersey Giant (most likely a splash) rooster. This particular Isa Brown is an awesome layer - she lays 28 days straight, then takes a day or two off, and does it all again. She also laid straight through winter (which, living in Michigan, is unsusual!).

I only hatched one, and was lucky to have gotten a pullet. She's now 8 weeks old and I just can't wait to see if she inherited her mother's laying ability! My hope is that the eggs will be quite large (like my Jersey Giant eggs) and that she's a prolific layer (like her mother). As she has matured, she's grown into such a pretty little pullet, I thought what the heck - why don't I offer up a few of her eggs? So, this auction is "just for fun!"

I believe she is fathered by my Splash Jersey Giant rooster - I also have a Blue Jersey Giant rooster, but I moved this gal into a pen with the Splash Giant when I separated out the breeder pens for this spring. That was only a week ago, so if she was bred by the blue, it's possible the offspring will be fathered by him.

Here are a few more pics - she's white with a buff chest and has splashes of black:

In this pic, you can see the large patch of black toward her tail and her lovely buff & white breast:

As with any hatching egg auction, I cannot guarantee hatchability once the eggs leave my farm; I do my very best to collect often and eggs are properly stored prior to shipping. I do not skimp on packaging - it's just not worth it.

PayPal only auction - eggs to be mailed out Tuesday, March 8.
Payment must be received by end of business on Monday, March 7.

Is this your own creation? I have never heard of this combination. Sounds like a good project.

Yes, I really am uber impressed with the laying ability of the hen, and though she lays large sized eggs, I was hoping for something that laid LARGER eggs, and a bird that was a larger size - I like big birds! I didn't expect her to be so doggone pretty and wouldn't be listing eggs otherwise. I set more 2 weeks ago but, unfortunatley, my bator had a major temp spike & it ruined the eggs.

But I'll be setting more in a few weeks - I'm excited to see if all the babies look like this pretty gal!

Oh she really is pretty! I like big birds, too!

I still owe you a pic of my silver penciled rock!

I think you will lost production and size of egg because ISA Browns are at the top for egg production and size of egg.

ghulst - I see you are from Zeeland, do you work for Townline? (That is the hatchery that hatches most Isa Browns).

Yes, of course I realize that egg production will not be near as good as with a pure Isa; but, it should improve the production from the Jersey side. While I adore my Isa Browns (I get a few each year, as they are the only ones that lay for me in the frigid Michigan winters!), I really wanted something a bit more attractive for the coop. So, hopefully, this gal (wish I'd hatched more now!) will lay through winter for me. Fingers crossed!!

Yes I do. I make delivers for them. Where do you get your ISA's at?

muggs - THANKS! This gal is just so darned pretty, IMO - I'm super excited to see how she matures! Wish I'd have hatched more than just her!

ghulst - here's how much I love Isas: I live near Flint, and they do not get sent up to my local TSC (Fenton) for "chick days" - all they ever have is super basic breeds (BR, RIR, NHR). However, I have a friend in Cedar Springs, near Zeeland, who picks me up a few Isas each year - it's a two-hour drive for me to go see her, but she's a very good friend, and I always look forward to the visit anyway! So, she picks me up a few each year, and I get them from her and have a nice visit all at the same time!
