just found out i have epilepsy...

I work with a lady who had seizures as a teen. She now has two kids, and has been seizure free for several years now thanks to her meds.

My old college roomate has epilepsy. She wasn't good about taking her meds in college and she had seizures (grand mal) pretty often. We got used to it. Now she takes her meds like she should and hasn't had a seizure in over 20 years. She is 53 now and has been on meds since she was 8 and lives a great life. Three great kids, great husband, and grandkids.

My mom has epilepsy... She's 68. Had it all her life. Its not like the old days. You get a good med cocktail, and... well, thats it. Have a good diet, find the things that trigger episodes, and avoid them. Some foods do it too. Foods have a big impact on neurological functions, so, avoid processed foods, and eat as WHOLESOME as possible. Avoid sodas, artifical sweeteners, msgs... Those things don't bother most people, but they do bother some people, and may be some of the things that bother you. You never know till you eliminate them for a few weeks, and then try them out and see what happens. My mom, I do all her food prep. all our food is home made... Fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains... we grow our own food in the summer months, eat organic in the winter... Its just something you have. Like some one who has diabetes... Its all in how you manage your lifestyle... SO, that being said, sorry to hear you have it. But I am sure you can handle it.
