Just got a new and bigger composter since old one was not working

Thanks for the info. In my old one the top was dry but the deeper my hand was the wetter and more slimy it was, yes it had airholes and sticks all over it and I lightly misted it once a week then turned it. Did I do something wrong? Thanks

Sounds like it doesn't need the weekly misting. If it's wet and slimy, it's too wet, and too slimy. It should be slightly moist, that's about it. Unless it's really wet, just give it a stir, then leave it for a couple of weeks and let it brew.

If you get a sponge wet and then squeeze all the water you can out of it, that's how damp it should be. You don't want it very wet, just enough moisture for those good microbes to live. So you were probably watering it too much.
