Just got an enforcement notice

Right, I was just trying to show the expense that Ive already undertook and am still undertaking to care for the chickens. I think its ridiculous that the state would charge that much for chickens that do nothing other than provide food, fertilizer and fun. You wonder why kids nowadays dont know how to do anything. You have to have a permit for everything and somebody will still have an issue with it.
Permit fees are often to cover the anticipated costs of inspections when/if complaints are lodged. I personally think that a better system would be a requirement that the cost of inspecting a complaint be paid by the complainer, and if the complaint is valid, they would be reimbursed, and the cost would become a fine charged to the one who violated code. If the complaint is ruled invalid, then the city keeps the fee paid by the person who complained.
