When my guineas are hatched, and I get them conditioned to staying around home for several weeks before I trust them loose will my neighors guineas call them over and will I lose my guineas? LOL!!! I'm wondering if I should only let a few guineas out at a time (like alternate small flocks) so I don't loose the whole flock to them co-joining

anythoughts on this?

My neighbor has several doz guineas (and he doesnt like us as he thinks we are living on half of his property but our survaying deed thing shows otherwise...lol) anywhooo does anyone have expereience with neighbors flocks and their own of guineas?

Just want to know what i may be in for. If I have to they'll just stay penned in portable pens to devour ticks and keep watch but it'd be nice to trust them to free ranging.

thanks!!!!

these are marlinchasers babies

Good question, never had a neighbour with them, but mine were all raised by hens, and learned to stay home from her. I will say that it took the longest time to get my originals to accept outsiders even though they watched them grow up, and roost together they dont join together often, and if something scares them the originals stick together and leave the others to fend for themselves, so I would think them running off to join the neighbours wouldnt be a spur of the moment thing for them.

First thing leg band them, so you know they are your.

They do range far, but try letting only 2 out at a time. They may join as one big flock, not sure. odd they may bring his home to you also. Mine never last long free range to many coons and etc.

Never had any that near my flock

yeah I was deffinatly thinking legbands.....and I think what I will do is alternate the flock... only a few out at a time...because I don't see myself feeling safe letting them all out it will scare me lol!!! I dont wanna go out one day and hear more cackling over at the neighbors and find out I lost my birds...and then try to retrieve them and him accusing me of stealing his birds or something

LOL

I'll just have to buy poultry netting from my moms work and move them around the property in the woods....then catch all their feathered bums and make them sleep in the barn rafters LOL!!! *my plans in the making*! LOL
