Just got my chickens last week. My husband thinks I'm nuts.

You are in great company! My husband was completely against getting chicks and 9 weeks later,
just spent Sat and Sun building a beautiful A frame coop for them with me. Still has some more
work to be done to call it complete. My father in law was laughing his head off as we
were picking up more material from his wood pile. Have fun - these are memories in the
making :>

Ha ha, My wife thinks I am nuts also, don't worry your not alone. We purchased a small guest house about a
quarter mile down the hill from us that has 3 acres and some old coops attached to it. I did the exact same thing, renovated all the coops and got 10 Welsummer's. When I picked up the Welsummers from my now friend Kate she looked at me and said "these are your first chickens, huh?" Yes they are.. "Ever heard of chicken math"? No.

Now I have 18 Welsummers, 10 Naked Necks, 26 Danish Banty's, 20 Buff Orps, 20 Silver laced, 6 NJ Giants, 5
Wyandotte mutts and 4 Danish Banty's at the upper house.. When my wife pokes fun at me I simply tell her "My
chickens understand me".. I free range all of them except the Bants, they prefer to just stay away from the bigger birds in their luxury coop.

Anyway, Hello everybody. I am in a small town as far North in CA as you can get without getting into Oregon.
This is a great site thanks to whoever put it together.

You're not alone in chicken-obsession! It is a very contagious disease which spreads like wildfire here...And there is NO vaccine!! Welcome to ChickenLand.

! Great to have you with us! Yeah, well just wait until they start laying those delicious eggs - he won't think you're nuts then! He may even get a little "crazy" himself! Best of luck to you!

Welcome to BYC from another Crazy Chicken Lady! My DH also thinks I have lost my mind but...he is the first to lend a hand with any new rennovations to the coops! He also spent most of the summer enlarging my duck pond and adding a waterfall and circulation pipe to keep it from freezing for the ducks! Be mindful of Chicken Math-It's true! Chickens are addictive!
