Just got my chicks today and one has a hernia.

What can I do if anything for a hernia? It is about the size of the end of my pinky finger.
 
maybe separate so no one picks on it. I had some belly button scabs that took a couple extra days to fall off.


hopefully someone has seen your issue before.
 
Hernia operations for chicks are pretty expensive I hear! They put more vets in BMW's then any other operation.

Here is a picture of it. It seems not to notice it. I wasnt sure what to do.

Yup, I'd guess it's an unabsorbed yolk. He will eventually absorb it if he lives. These kind of chicks have increased mortality. If he survives one week, he should be just dandy and grow like a normal chicken. Don't drain it, just let it be. You could put him on an antibiotic if you want. The yolk is a bacterial playground when it's floating around in the body cavity. Terramycin in the water should prevent mild infection.
