Just got my e-mail from Holderreads! 6 week update, bottom pg.8

Yea! How exciting! I have to admit though, I am feeling jealous! I haven't submitted a duckling order this year yet. I can't wait to see all your babies!

Yeah, mine are coming a really long way. I worried about that, and that's actually the reason I've never ordered from them before, but I talked to a lady who raises goats (very responsibly), and she used to order goslings from them and said they always arrived in outstanding condition. So I thought I'd give it a shot. I'll definitely post when they arrive.

I got an email on friday, saying mine would be shipping the week of May 3, with May 10 & May 17 as alternates. Its going to be a crazy week, since that's when my 3 of my alpacas are due. I'm getting 10 runners of assorted colors & 5 welsh harlequins. Need to get to work building my brooder.

Trust me - I will be posting a ton of pictures here as soon as they arrive!
Please post yours too!

April 5th is their first hatch week this year: Mondays and Tuesdays the weeks of April 5, 12, 19, 26; May 3, 10, 17 and June 7, so I wouldn't be surprised if you received an e-mail in the next few weeks! I had my order in ridiculously early for this year.

What breeds did you order? I'm getting some more Dutch Hookbills to build up my little flock of them, and then I ordered some "Bargain Duckling Assortment" so that I'd get a surprise; I love surprises!

It's so hard to wait for that e-mail! I only ordered mine last month. I wanted to order a few of everything, they all look so fun! But we live in town and this is my first time with ducks. Also it took me a while to convice my husband that he wanted ducks

I think I will only beable to keep 4 in the end, I don't want them to be crowded. So I ordered 10 Silver Welsh Harliquins, I really need 3 females. I need the eggs for a daughter with chicken egg allergies and I hear they are good layers. Also I thought they were suppost to be quieter? Hoping my neighbors like them

Harlequins are supposed to be great! I have 4 Harlequin eggs in the incubator right now - I'm hoping for at least 1 female.

I hope you get a great hatch! When are they due?

I got my e-mail this morning. Looks like the week of April 5th with the following 2 weeks as alternatives. I was so excited when I read it, my kids couldn't figure out what was wrong with me

Yea for Ducklings!

I'm still waiting for my e-mail and I ordered in January. However, I put a preffered shipping date of April 26th so I should be getting an e-mail soon. I ordered welsh harelquins, fawn & white runners, and a pair of sebastopols!

I couldn't stop smiling for about an hour after I read mine!

I picked up the Welsh Harlequin eggs at a poultry swap on Sunday morning (they had Cayuga and Silver Appleyard eggs too). I put them in Sunday afternoon. I'm a serial candler

, and I took a peek after 24 hours in the 'bator, and three of the 4 were showing early signs of development.

They're due April 18th, and I'll candle again this weekend, because they're in with some of my own eggs from my flock that have to be moved into the hatcher on Sunday. So, actually, I'm going to have some of my own ducklings hatching next week!

For some reason, I'm more excited about the Holderreads ducklings though.

I put in a Holderread order just last week. First I emailed a simple question to see if there was any chance of getting Hook Bills this year. I got a quick and courteous reply that there would be some available. They told me to email my order the same day I mailed my check. They even replied to the order that they'll email me when they had a ship date. I also said I'd take any ship date. It is my first order with them, but so far I'm pleased by the process.

We got a surprise phone call last June that we had 6 Khaki campbells.
More hatched than expected, and we got them the day before my foot surgery.

Needless to say I have an awesome and longsuffering Husband.
