We're glad to have you.

Amazing! I would love to give you important tips about keeping your chickens. If your chickens are adults and not chicks, please be aware about the pecking order, when the biggest and toughest chick is at the top, and the weakest and smallest is at the bottom. The hens will fight, and hate new hens and will peck on them. If your chickens are growing up together, you don't need to fear about the pecking order. Otherwise, if there is a pecking order and you live far from other houses, you should get a rooster. They protect the hens and can have 10 wives. (Warning: They are aggressive and crow loud for others to hear.) and they put an end to the pecking order, and lead the hens. Do not get more than 1 rooster, they will try to fight to be the only one. If they are currently chicks, keep them away from groundhogs, squirrels, cats, dogs, etc.
If they are hens, the main thing to worry about is dogs. They may either bond, or they will try to kill your chickens. Always keep watch of your chickens until they are able to lay eggs, to me that means they became mature and may survive on their own now, and squeezing in some human help. If they make this noise: (Bok-Bok-Bok-Ba-Kak!) it means they are in trouble, it either means a predator or they cannot find the others. Or, if your chickens are chicks, they will make loud peeping noises. Chickens can eat a lot of things, you can leave them in your yard, (With plenty of space, it let's them run from predators and make the pecking order less likely) and they will eat almost anything, that includes mice! They don't care about other birds or squirrels, they never pay attention to each other. Every night, give them some water and food to eat, and let them outside everyday. If it is a snow day, stay with them and give them time to decide if they should go outside or not. If you hear them sneezing, it won't be a very big problem, it usually happens on cold days. Don't only keep them outside to eat, give them your left over food or even a cob of corn that is eaten, they will finish it off for you in a flash! Chickens make really great pets, you will love them! If one of your chickens grows to act very aggressive, wear snowpants or overrals to protect your legs from their pointy beaks, and wear gloves. Their pecks will hurt if you feed them by hand, so ALWAYS wear gloves. Anyway, good luck on your farming! If you have any questions, PM me, (Or just look it up :I) okay? :)
