just got my first turkeys!

hello turkey people!! i just got my first turkey poults! i got two heritage bronze turkeys! i'm so excited to watch them grow and see their little personalities! anything you guys wish someone had told you before you got your turkey poults? please share! thanks in advance!

Yes, they are wonderful and will most likely imprint on you and follow you around I don’t eat mine I just have them as pets are you eating yours? If so make sure they see a lot of things before they go because they are so curious and warning they do poop a lot make sure they can’t easily get on your back porch (learned that the hard way) they are messy at that age but it’s worth all the love and affection they will give you! Have a blast!

oh great! They will lay eggs if you’ve got females and they don’t lay much if you ever have any questions or stories be sure to ask and tell I love turkeys one of my hens was in love with one of your pink flamingo pool floats lol

Also baby turkeys (poults) ARE NOT Hardy but full grown turkeys are very very hardy

you're the best! and that sounds so funny about to pool float i was so scared about them being hardy, i heard that sometimes they can starve themselves! luckily i started teaching mine to eat and drink right when i got them home and they're doing great! smart birds!

thanks yeah that was pretty funny she also will try to mate with any people she meets except she doesn’t do me very much because I’m more like her mom but she doesn’t like the gobbler she wants someone else! Glad yours are doing well you will soon have stories to tell remember feel free to ask questions. I know lots of turkey sickness when they are poults and everyone says that turkeys are dumb but I think they are smarter than most humans LOL

I would get a few more just in case somethin happens to one so you aren’t scramblin to find a friend for a lone turk.
