just got the chicks today.

We got our 12 chicks toay and we are so excited. I am using a baby pool with shavings on bottom with paper towels on top. How long do you have to keep chicks from eating shavings, or is ok if they peck at them some of the time?

I'm doing the same thing ,minus the pool . I have 16 was expecting 10 , think I got 6 roos . I have changed paper towels 10 times today already ! So I'm thinking brooder soon .

LOL, I know about the paper towel thing. I used to let the chicks on paper towels for a few days. The last chicks I got went on shavings the day they came home they were 2 days old.
