Let Your Freak Flag Fly
Well, since lockdown I have lost one more guinea to unknown illness. The remaining four however are doing well! I put up an electric net arpund their coop. I only electrocute it at night since they are sharing a field with a meat bird tractor. Although they have flown over a couple times. they generally have been staying by their coop, and for the last few days, returning every night on their own!!
In a week or two I will move the netting to fresh grass for the meaties and hope the guineas continue to come back at night after this additonal monthish of homing.
We all know that 4 is not enough, so I just ordered 10 more from Ideal Poultry. I got a mix of colors this time. I'm hoping I can integrate them rather young because it is so hot, and that my aduts will show them what to do. Due to the timing, I may coop them over the whole winter and let them loose in the spring.
I am excited to grow my ranks so my guineas can live their best life. Hopefully after the learning curve of my first batch it will go a bit smoother this time, with a final higher number of adults.
