Just Hatched - Question

Morning -

I have some newly hatched chickens - 3 hatched over the night. Seem to be doing well - under a heat lamp resting now. Several more eggs are pipped.

Question - two of the chicks have red tissue hanging out from their vent. Is this part of the blood vessels still being attached? What should I do? Will it come off on it's own?

Yes it will dry up after a while. But be careful about taking the chicks out of the bator if you still have eggs hatching. You will let out all the humidity and that can cause problems for the ones that haven't hatched yet. Good Luck

High temps can cause absorption issues. Are the chicks early or on time?

Today is Day 21... so right on schedule....

I'll make sure the incubator stays closed as much as possible.
