Meet Peppercorn! We don’t have a broody chicken so I stuck 4 chicken eggs in our Caguya duck’s nest. My dog ate 3 if the eggs but the one that survived has hatched!

Pepper was able to hatch the chicken egg in about 17 days. Peppercorn is alive and well in our chick pen. I didn’t want Pepper to try and make it swim so we took the chick as soon as we saw him.

Peppercorn is with her new friends, Him and Her.

Him and Her are both Red Sexlink. Him a cockerel and Her a pullet. Both are about 17 days older then Peppercorn.

Peppercorn is a full Light Brahma!

You should have waited til' momma duck gave Peppercorn a few free swimming lessons first! Hahaha, j/k. :p

I would have let Pepper keep Peppercorn but I read that Ducks will go swimming with their babies and drowned a baby chick trying to make it go swimming.
