So, as many of you know, I sell killing cones on eBay. I have a small picture of my buddy with birds in the cone on my listing page. I got this message today:

Q: Is really necessary/right for the last photo of you KILLING helpless animals?! Come on, If folks want to see this email them the photo. But really, Your last photo is uncalled for here on ebay.

Since it was a private message, and I could say whatever I want, I was really tempted to let this person know what I thought of their opinions, but I kept it civil and just said this:

Maybe you shouldn't have clicked on something called "killing cones" then. In the two years I've been selling them, you are literally the only one to complain. That small, from a distance photo is NOT graphic.

People amaze me... I doubt this person is a vegan who wears/uses no animal products either, so he/she is probably a hypocrite. If animal rights is your thing, fine- I have no problem with that. But someone who wants me to change what I'm doing, when it has NO affect on them, simply because they don't like it, offends ME.

What did they think killing cones were? People are so strange some times.... Glad you told them off too!

WoW! Out of the blue you get an e-mail like that? Sounds like they are high up on there horse and have a crummy life, so they go after others. That's sad. I'm sorry that you had to be the target of this person's rant.

Everyone has aright to their beliefs and the expression of them--that is what USA is all about. To berate them or they us is what is wrong.

I would like to tell he/she that their beliefs are not universal but you have a right to them and can express them within reason and peacefully. I acknowledge them but do not necessarily agree with them.

I do agree that an animal used for food has a right to good treatment, quality food, reasonable enclosures that protect them from harm and provide them with clean living/exercise areas.

Killing cones hold the bird in a position that allows for a humane way to be dispatched. So please respect my right to do this as I respect your right to your beliefs.

jaku,

I have to admit it. I'm a little jealous of the person who contacted you. I really wish I had the time to search the Internet, or anywhere for that matter, for things to be offended by and the time and audacity to point them out to everybody. I think I might have just found a new hobby. Perhaps I'll start looking for fences that are clearly marked with caution signs and then complain to the owners when I get shocked. I guess somebody has already sued MacDonalds b/c their coffee was hot, so I'll have to cross that one off though.

All joking aside, when did our society abandon common sense.
