Please explain: What do you mean with ‘inherit’ poultry?

And which heritage breeds do you have?

As someone who grew up just outside the outskirts of a town, my family used to "inherit" a lot of cast-off dogs, but never any poultry. Oh, and cats. Lots of people dumped their house cats -- pampered pets who were ill-prepared for the rigors of outdoor living.

I think it's great that you take in the birds and that you are raising heritage breeds.
