This owner of a house chicken welcomes you to BYC!

My girl doesn't have a cross beak, but because she was the last layer chick in a brooder of bigger broiler babies who picked on her, she is scared of other chickens. Even the hen at the bottom of the pecking order can make Dottie run with a single glance in her direction.

I know chickens are social creatures, but some do fine without other chickens. Dottie, who , isn't afraid of ducks or geese when she is outside on a "field trip", walks up to the back door when she's ready to come back inside. She mostly ignores the cat, but plays with the house dog and me. Sometimes, we all snuggle on the sofa together.

Kudos to you for taking care of this special girl!
