Just joined this morning after finding such help through Backyard Chicken website. One of our bantams died for no reason this morning, a favourite. We have been keeping 8 bantams for three years and it is our first fatality.

Sorry for your loss. My friend has 4 bantam house chickens - 2 seramas and 2 silkies. I know some seramas are born with a lethal gene that they die either in the egg or have very shortened lives. I don't know if other bantam breeds have that as well.
