So my opal legbar hen is sick, I believe. I have a vet appointment for her but it's not for another two hours and it's not my usual vet, it's someone who doesn't normally treat chickens.. Her symptoms are: lethargic and poopy butt.

I gave her some water and pedilyte and I have her inside, as it's hot. She's in my lap and while I was petting her, she laid an egg that was absolutely covered in poop. I didn't think to take a picture, honestly, I was just pretty shocked. My initial thought was coccidiosis but I'm not sure now. Is there anything this could be?

Was her butt clean before she laid the egg in your lap?
No, she has poopy butt, I noticed it earlier. I was going to give her a bath but I was worried about traveling with a wet chicken. The egg was extremely covered in poop, as if she laid it and pooped at the same time.

Don't worry about the poopy egg, hopefully the vet can resolve her lethargic behavior, try to keep her cool.
