I notinced I could find more Lavender and Blue/Black type orpingtons for sale than lemon cuckoo. How rare are they? I think I am sold after purchasing this rooster. I can't get over how pretty he is!

I have 4 lemon cuckoo....love them!!! They are beautiful and very sweet.

Sorry to hear about the fires but glad yall came out ok....we are in severe drought conditions here now for a couple 3 years.....we are having a lot more rain this year but still need a lot to replace the loss to our aquafer.

I want some of the blue/black/splash orpingtons.....I have that same color combo in Isbars and they are gorgous, but I like the roundness of the orpingtons and their docile personalities....maybe next spring..

our first shick is hatching right now, Dark Silver with dark grey legs..... Momma was lemon cuckoo but the bredder had a blue splash ( which was almost all white) and a lavendar roo. What did I get? She got rid of her Lemon cuckoo stock because they kept getting into the other pens.

Most likely you got a very pretty, mixed variety chick. It will be an Orpington, but basically no different than a mixed breed chicken. But if you are not planning on showing it and you are happy, then it matters not what anyone thinks!

An orpington is an orpington. I am happy to have some pretty colors. Plus its possible to get true colors when cross bred.... with another color. How did they get those colors in the first place? I am eager to see what this little guy turns out to be. Does anyone have lavender an/or blue splash chick pics? Mines not fluffy yet so there's no pic at the moment.

Baby chick is doing good, looks like he's being adopted... and I think it by his actual mother, will have a pic soon. She won't sit on him to keep him warn yet.... do adopters eventually do that? They are both in the chick ben with the light on, so he stays by the light and her away from it... I know thats probably not helping the her sitting on him thing... but I can't risk loosing him if she doesn't. I am new to this any suggestions? My 2 month old pullet is also friendly towards him, she hasn't pecked him yet.... then again she is the sweetest fluffiest thing I've ever met.

Okay so I have bred in some beautiful Lemon Cuckoos! and the roosters are exceptionally tempered. The size and everything from my rooster is outstanding.. will be posting picks here shortly.

But one note the buff roosters (from the hatchery) are JERKS! They harass the poor hens and those little girls are featherless and raw! My lemons don't do that. Aragorn has passed his gentleman traits on fortunately.. here's was happenes to my Jerk roos.... they wait here where they can't attack my kids and are about to get their heads chopped off.
