This morning my husband said that he heard/saw my EE on the top perch at 5:30am crowing like it was trying to sound like a rooster... I came home and took a few pics to see if someone here might be able to help us because we are really new...

My young ones are about 9-10 weeks old and the only one with a reddish face seems to be my silver laced Wyandotte (not sure if my hubby got them mixed up) but even still, I am not entirely convinced that any of them are cockerels.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hmm, I'm not sure, they all look like pullets to me

I would keep my eye on the SLW. That's looking like the start of a white patch on the wing. The EEs all look like pullets.

They are pretty easy to pick out at a young age. Give up a side shot. I would expect more color and comb development at 10 weeks so hopefully she's just mixed up.

That really just looks like a pullet without great lacing.

Here are a few better pics of my EE. This was the one I originally had the question about. I am reading stuff about saddle and hackle feathers but I just don't feel confident in what I see here... Can anyone tell me if Tootsie is a pullet or cockerel?

Tootsie is a great bearded lady

. They all look like pullets. Maybe your honey heard just regular chicken cackling and was mistaken?
