Zippy pipped and zipped his/her way out in just under 3 hours two days earlier than expected, earning the name Zippy. Sadly it looks like Zip is goignto be an only child. Can a single chick grow up healthy? It's real late for people around here to be hatching so I'm doubtful on finding a buddie especially since Zip is a very tiny Japanese bantam so would need a tiny friend.

I had the same thing happen with my last hatch. Luckily I was able to find chicks just a couple of days older. The lone chick is much happier now.

The chick was alone for two days before I found the chicks. I did not think I would find chicks this time of year either. Check craigslist and ask anyone who sells chicks if they have chick under a week. When my chick was alone having a featherduster and a small mirror seemed to help a lot. He would cuddle under the duster and stare in the mirror most of the time. Good luck.
