Hi,

My husband and I just bought a house in the country ish where we can have chickens. We’ve been wanting to get out of town a bit for a few years but finally made it. It’s only half an acre but we love it. It has a shed that was obviously used as a chicken coop and the neighbors already have chickens and are friendly so should be helpful.

Just ordered our first chicks at the local farm and fleet to come March 31st. 5 barred rock and 5 speckled Sussex and a speckled Sussex rooster. Actually 2 just in case.

We both grew up in cities and have never been around chickens so there’s a lot to learn and I’m glad to have so much information available on here!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Having two cockerels with so few pullets may turn into a nightmare very quickly when those boys hit sexual maturity at about 15 weeks. Have a backup plan for the extra boy.
