Well, the wife pulled the trigger the moment I finished the meat bird coop. She ordered 50 Cornish x's from Schlecht Hatchery. I raised 30 Red Rangers and free barnyard mixes for meat last summer, so I'm interested in seeing how much more the Cornish x's grow.
I free fed the birds last time. But I set up an automatic feeder for these Cornish x's, and plan on limiting feed 12hr a day. Is that what everyone does with their meat birds? I have a 600sqft run for them to use too. Will they go out on their own, or do I need to coax them outside? The Red Rangers foraged pretty good.

I’m a couple weeks ahead of you and they’ll go out. You may want faster growth then I’m getting. I’ve got a thread going just below yours in tbe meat bird forum.

I limited feed for mine at least until they were over 4 weeks. Otherwise they would gorge themselves all day and night and then end up getting sick and dying before processing time. After 4 weeks I did one feeding in the evening and they free ranged during the day so they actually moved around and got exercise and ate what they could find and then we rounded it out at night with a feeding.
