The Delaware Breed

Erin has closed her business at Dawnridge Farm. I have her last shipment of chicks. I am currently trying to sell off some of the cockerels before I am forced to process them..they are amazingly well bred Delawares.
I just ran across this thread when trying looking up Dawnridge Farm to start a flock of our own. Will you be or are you willing to sell hatching eggs? If not do you have any leads on where I can get some of her line of birds now that she is no longer in business?

I will sell hatching eggs later. These birds are absolutely a dream come true. The pullets are stunning. Beautiful color. The males color isn't show quality.. well some of them were close but I will have to process them because there's too many males. I'm keeping my largest males which are unbelievable. One of my biggest boys is 5lbs 4oz at 11 and a half weeks. You're probably not even in FL or I'd sell you my extra males. I hate to process them if anyone else is close enough to take them for breeding. They will be 12 weeks old on Sunday and I intended to process 4 more this weekend. My pretty boys will be the next on the process list.

That's King on the scale. He's my best gentleman and young flock leader.

Wow! That's wonderful! I'm so glad that you were able to get stock from her. I wish I was closer but were in MI. You'll have to post some pictures of your beautiful birds. You will have to keep me posted once you have hatching eggs. My mom lives in FL and we drive down for visits a couple times a year, might have to make a side trip one time to bring home eggs. I thought about getting some stock from good shepherd conservancy or deer run farms but I haven't been able to find too much information on people who have sourced from them.

Oh that's perfect!! You can load up on eggs on one of your trips. I am doing the same thing the breeder did. I asked her what all her prices were on eggs, day olds, pullets and layers. I'm copying her to a T.. these birds are fantastic. Huge investment but worth it.

This is how the pullets are looking right now. They are beautiful. I posted a lot more information in the Bielefelder cross experiment post in the meat bird forum. I did a lot of weight checks but I'm way too busy to be checking all these birds.

Meatball in top photo and King in the bottom photo. These are last week? See how the boys backs have a lot of black? That's too much smut for show. Also too many points on the comb. Line can be worked for show because I do have pretty boys but I need my biggest boys. I don't have enough space to have all the breeding pens I would need. These boys are huge! I'm also getting into Black Copper Marans as well. I just set my first shipment of Marans eggs.

Processed a couple extras this morning. I have 2 more to do tomorrow morning. I saw one really pretty guy with a nice comb and I'm going to hold onto him for awhile longer. He's much closer to show quality.

This guy's comb and colors are much closer to the standard. There's one other boy with even less smut on his back. I can't remember if his comb is too many points or not.
