I've had them at the sitter for a couple of weeks so they're 6 weeks old now. Still too cold in Utah to have them outside though so they're in the garage under a light.
One little girl has a broken toe though. Will she be ok? She kind of has a hard time walking around. Will she get used to it and eventually adjust to it? I mean, it's seriously broken, on a 45 degree angle.
The two Ameracauna's have green legs. Does that mean anything special?
I also got two Cuckoo Marans and two others that start with a W, can't remember what they're called!

The Ameraucanas are supposed to have green legs. That is a trait they have.

Really? My others don't. Does that mean they're true Ameracaunas and my others are mutts?

If I'm remembering something I read before easter egger chickens can have green/slate colored legs, but don't necessarily have to have them.

Is the other breed you got wyandotte?

I have no idea about the broken toe, though. Sorry, help someone here can help with that.

The girls are staying all fluffed up. Does that mean they're too cold in the garage or will they adjust?
I've got them in a wire cage so there's nothing to keep the warmth in for them. I didn't realize I would be this nervous with them!

Do you have a heat lamp on them? What do you say the ambient temp in the garage is? Are they fully feathered?

If they're not fully feathered yet you may need to put a heat lamp on them, or at least a space heater if it's chilly in the garage. If they've got all their feathers they should be able to withstand chilly temps, maybe just not freezing ones quite yet.

Yes, I have a heat lamp on them. It's probably 65 in the garage. Maybe 70. The man that was baby sitting them had them in the house and had a heat lamp on them still. I think that's a little overkill for as old as they are.
Yes, they are fully feathered.

If someone could answer my question about the toe thing I would appreciate it. Her toe is at a 45 degree angle and I just noticed that her leg is bent all skewompus too like it got broken at the same time. She still walks around but steps on her own toe.
Will she be OK?
