I ordered my chicks a couple weeks ago for delivery in May. I am so excited. I had to go ahead and make my order so I could stop researching chicken breeds and changing my mind. I am getting 5 Welsummers, 4 EEs, and 2 Norwegian Jaerhons. The Welsummers and the EEs are straight run, while I know I am getting Jaerhon pullets. My goal is to end up with 6-8 laying hens, and possibly keep 1 rooster if he is very, very nice.

Now I need to get that coop built before they get here!

I ordered my new brood on Wednesday!! I got 1 cream brabanter, 1 gold brabanter, 1 norweigan jaehon, 1 redcap, 1 sicilian buttercup, 1 silver spangled spitzhauben, 2 blue andalusians, 2 barnevelders, 2 welsummers, 1 silver kraienkoppes, 1 silver phoenix, 1 silver-gray dorking, & 5 ameraucana!!! I too know the excitement u feel!! Luckily, I'm not limited on how many I can keep, we live on 14 acres! Good luck w/your new brood, & enjoy!!

I sold off my current bunch of 2 yr old hens and I ordered 12 pullet chicks from Ideal Hatchery due to arrive in MARCH. I have never had Leghorns so I ordered 2 (one white and the other light brown) and some brown egg layers and tinted egg layers. CAN'T WAIT!

My family ordered about 50 (give or take a few) chicks from McMurray. A brown-egg-layer mix, and I got some bantams. We might also have in there some cuckoo marans---or maybe EEs.

I'm very excited for them, though, they'll be here around the week of the 14th.

Ohh I can't wait, I can't wait. I am so looking forward to my new chicks. I'll be getting 6 (hubby said only 4, but you do have to factor in the just in cases) I'll probably will be getting half RIR and the other half barred rocks, but then again.....
